George A. Lopez, Ph.D., is Professor of Political Science and Senior Fellow at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. Lopez’s research focuses primarily on the problems of State violence and coercion, and gross violations of human rights. He has been published in a variety of law, human rights, and scientific journals, and has been editor or contributor to five books on repression and State terror. Lopez has served as advisor to a number of organizations involved in human rights, international affairs education, and peace research.
