These volumes critique the motivation behind the war on Iraq. Future historians will frequently consult them. Thinking Americans should read them now.

Where’s the outrage?
Some years ago, President Bill Clinton got in trouble for fooling around in the White House with a member of his staff. There was a general hue and cry, and then he was impeached.
No doubt he shouldn’t have disgraced the office of President, and its White House, by playing hanky-panky with an intern. That was tacky, to put it mildly. Some would even call it immoral. And being “squeamish” about it - trying to change the meaning of “is” during a grilling over the affair - wasn’t very manly.
Though lots of people were really mad, others didn’t seem to care. This prompted Bill Bennet to ask, “Where’s the Outrage?”
But perhaps we should put things in a little perspective in terms of what actually happened during “Monica Lewinski-gate.”
1600 Americans didn’t get killed. 150,000 foreigners didn’t get killed. A recognized head of state of a sovereign country didn’t get deposed. The American military didn’t get overstretched, depleted, and generally worn down. Foreign combatants didn’t get waterboarded, hooded, beaten, and sexually humiliated as a matter of a government policy crafted to ignore the Geneva Conventions. The national debt didn’t increase by $300 billion. Another country’s economic system didn’t get completely restructured - by force - contrary to the wishes of the country’s citizens. Administration-connected businesses were’t awarded millions of dollars worth of accounting-irregularity-riddled contracts. CIA analysists weren’t coerced into prostituting their work to conform to a political agenda. The Pentagon didn’t run an illegal quasi-intelligence operation to provide soundbytes to the Vice President. Foreign exiles weren’t encouraged to spin wild yarns of weapons of mass destruction in order to get their country “liberated” from its legitimate government. The American people weren’t lied to as part of a well-orchestrated media and public outreach campaign designed to convince them to support an unnecessary war. A supine Congress didn’t roll in the face of pressure from the executive branch to blank check its imperial ambitions.
So, if someone wants to ask “Where’s the outrage,” it might be appropriate to ask “Where’s the outrage” over a 1600-American, $300 billion war that was unjust, immoral, illegal, unnecessary, and built upon a fabric of lies, misrepresentation, obfuscation, and blustery rhetoric.
Where is the outrage?
Well, for one thing, it’s found between the covers of Neo-CONNED! and Neo-CONNED! Again.
If you’re already outraged, you’ll want to read these books to beef up your arguments as to why the war in Iraq was immoral, illegal, and unnecessary. And, since it was all those things, why and how the war was foisted upon the American people.
If you’re not already outraged, read these books.
And then you will be.
